Why does Parrot matter?

It's the guts of Perl 6, which is nice
It's more portable than CLR, Mono, or JVM
It's optimized for dynamic languages
It's much nicer internally than Perl 5
It's fast and getting faster
Promise of language interoperability (not just different flavors of Java or C#)
